Oakland Athletics Win Thriller in 12 Innings

Athletics Score 2 Runs in 12th Inning to Defeat Astros 4-3

The Oakland Athletics scored two runs in the 12th inning to defeat the Houston Astros 4-3 on Tuesday night in Oakland, California.

The Athletics' Ramon Laureano led off the 12th inning with a single, and pinch-runner Billy McKinney advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tony Kemp. After Chad Pinder was intentionally walked, Christian Bethancourt singled to left field to score both runners and give the Athletics the lead.

The Astros had tied the game in the top of the 9th inning on a sacrifice fly by Yordan Alvarez. The Athletics had taken a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning on a two-run home run by Seth Brown, but the Astros came back to tie the game in the top of the 8th inning on a solo home run by Kyle Tucker.

The Athletics' bullpen was outstanding in relief, as Lou Trivino, A.J. Puk, and Domingo Acevedo combined to allow just one run on three hits over the final four innings.

The win was the Athletics' fourth in a row, and it improved their record to 46-75 on the season. The Astros dropped to 82-40 with the loss, but they still lead the American League West by 11 games over the Texas Rangers.
